URBAN TALES

Hanna Tsepesh: Olá Marcos! Welcome to THE GATES OF METAL! First of all: how are you and how are the things doing with the future concerts?

Marcos: Olá... Well things are going extremely well. Reviews are being over the top for this new album, and radios are giving massive air play to our songs, so great. About shows lets see what happens; we are always interested in invitations.

Hanna Tsepesh: for those who do not know the band, could tell us a little how it all started?

Marcos: All started in 2005. Urban Tales born as an idea I had for a long time. So I invited friends to work with me and then all things just happened. A demo and good reactions; the interest of a Label, a first Record and with that mega great reviews. A new work with the ALIVE cd, where we created the anthem for FEDRA (federation of rare diseases of Portugal), with that more mainstream exposure and then this new work – Loneliness still is the friend. Fast and simple right?

Hanna Tsepesh: Yes (laughs). What inspired you the most to create the lyrics and what process the band use to create the riffs, melody to comply with the lyrics?

Marcos: The inspiration for the lyrics, comes from everyday experiences I have or I see. Now the creation of the music, well, it´s all band gathered and then we show our ideas and see what can work better. We do create first the music, then we think on the lyrics.

Hanna Tsepesh: What are your favorite bands? You have any musician that you admire the most?

Marcos: The favorite bands from all the members are very different from one to others, which is good cause then it happens the urban tales sound.
I personally love RED, Paradise lost, Anathema (but not this new album). Also I´m listening different things such as Damien Rice, Counting Crows (their first works), Petter Carlsen, Silence 4 (the” only pain is real” album is magic), etc...

Hanna Tsepesh: I would like to know if you had or have any singing lessons or any other preparation? Your voice in this new album are much better! Congratulations!

Marcos: Thanks so much... Well, not anymore. I had for about 3 years singing lessons. I really think I should go back , but it´s difficult to manage time for everything.

Hanna Tsepesh: What was the highest and lowest point of your career as a musician?

Marcos: There aren´t lower points. All comes as experiences and learning for the future. As the highest , well there are several, but seeing how this new album is being so well received, is definitely an high point.
Hanna Tsepesh: Let’s talk about the “ Loneliness Still Is The Friend ” album. What a excellent new album Marcos! I liked a lot and I have to admit that I am very addicted to this new album. You guys are much better then the previous album. Can you tell to our readers what they can expect from this album?

Marcos: 10 new songs, full of passion, rage, deception, loneliness, love, all kinds of sentiments. Also, people can expect an organic sound, more raw and more direct. This album sounds more as a band than the previous. At least I think.

Hanna Tsepesh: How has the response been to the album by the fans and media? I saw some great reviews...

Marcos: The response is being superb. Media are really enjoying it. About fans, from the emails I have been receiving , all points for great great satisfaction.

Hanna Tsepesh: If one of our readers wants to buy your album , what they can do?

Marcos: Well from Portugal you can buy in several known stores such as Fnac, Corte Inglês, Media Market, and several others.
You also can order the new album through paypal, just check our new site or official myspace.

Hanna Tsepesh: what is your favorite music in this album and why?

Marcos: Silent cries is my favorite song from Urban Tales. There´s no reason, but a feeling when I heard this song. Is really amazing.

Hanna Tsepesh: The band got a new video. Very cool! How was the shooting?

Marcos: The shootings took several days and nights., but André Cascais managed to do a great video. Although it was hard work, we did all we wanted in the video. It´s a video full of sentiment.
Good Final work...

Hanna Tsepesh: What is your big advice for a young musician?

Marcos: Well, in these times it´s very difficult to be a musician. My advice is to take music as a passion, cause if not, you will drawn in deception.
Never give up, but with your feet on the ground, knowing it will be a hard path to take. Then Good luck, you´ll need it.
Hanna Tsepesh: Do you want to send any message for the people who going to read this interview and for the fans?

Marcos: Yes thanks... First of all, try to get the new album... Then spread it to your friends. We really want everyone to know of the band and our music. That´s the most important thing. Hope you enjoy it...For the fans – Thanks to the support...Can´t really say more, but thank all of them...

Hanna Tsepesh: Thanks o much for your answers and time. I wish the entire band a big success with this fantastic new album! Hope to see you guys very soon on stage…

Marcos: Thanks for the opportunity and keep up the good work.

Hanna Tsepesh: You are very welcome Marcos and thank you.
