Hanna Tsepesh: Before all thank you so much for accepting our invitation for this interview, I know that you are very busy recording the new album. First of all i would like you to tell us little bit about Thy Symphony?
Marcello: Well, i know Rene since childhood we pass it together and in school i meet one keyboard player called Douglas and by this way Thy Symphony emerge.Than we found Camila, standing with us since the first time. César come after with one drummer that was in the band before Matthew.
The male vocals were a lot, by the way, i’m going to grab the chance to promote that we are changing our male singer and another one is coming for Vitor place, is name is Allan Ortoga. Allan is a great singer and will replace Vitor very well.
And like that, Thy Symphony emerge, from one personal idea along with two great friends.
Hanna Tsepesh: Thank you so much for the exclusivity of the news Marcello, and I hope that everything runs well with the new singer. We also would like to know about your musical background , i know for instance that Camila Senne as vocal lessons, are this informations correct?
Marcello: Camila was into musical high school and finnish last year, in the present days she give singing lessons.I study guitar by Berklee methods and after that i study composing and regency with Maestro Emerson Tineo, a great musician and friend.Reneo as bass lessons for a long time and also he is a great producer, our albums are produced by me and Reneo.
Hanna Tsepesh: What are your inspirations when you write for Thy Symphony ,Marcello? And what is your favorite theme when you write?
Marcello:I like to write about history and filosofy about people and how they can contribute for the world, or don’t.Rarely i write about me, however, in songs with social themes i finnish talking about me because this is the way I see the world, so, my values are in my lyrics.
Hanna Tsepesh: Do you have influencies? Can you tell us some names?
Marcello: I like a lot of things. The 80’years pop,all kind of rock genres, including heavy metal for sure, new age, erudite music . The truth is that I love music , but music with quality. My country as lots of music with bad quality, unfortunatelly we are recognized around the world by some of this resonant garbage.InHeavy Metal I like Blind Guardian a lot, Nightwish, Rhapsody of fire, Metallica until the Black Álbum, there are lots of bands but this one’s tells you a little about what I like.
Hanna Tsepesh: By the way i have one curiosity… how is the vision of metal in Brasil? Did you have any difficulty’s in recording?
Marcello: Yes lots of them. In Brasil there’s no space for metal, the publishers don’t promote national bands, unless the bands pay even the water that the publishers drink. The places to play are bars with music devices not so good, few are the places with good structure.Outside São Paulo if you like heavy metal you are a real hero.We had lots of difficulties to record ,however, we build a home studio in rené’s house and now it’s easier, however, it’s not enough to record and not promote cd’s, the publishers in here fake that we don’t exist so the only way is to promote outside of the country to get out of Brasil ,here in Brasil things don’t work like that, the publishers overload the market with European bands, sometimes bands that are not so good like the one’s we have here, they are not so good as thy symphony for instance, and they don’t promote one national band .Our politics are a shame to the world and the publishers in here seems to play an equal game like our evil politics that we have here.
Hanna Tsepesh: That situation is really sad, i think that when people read this interview they are going to understand a little about your words, specially our readers and bands as well. What do you think about the actual Metal panorama?
Marcello: I believe that metal reach one wonderfull moment, we have united styles, it’s hard to classify the genre of one band, we have very rich metal.today i see metal as one music reaching the big crowd however it’s really well done one kind of amazing music that reach one incredible level.
Hanna Tsepesh: I heard that you are preparing a new album, can you tell us a little about that?
Marcello:Yes, this is our second album and the first part will tell the history of São Francisco de Assis, also we have diverse themes like “ Pandoras Box” and “ Troy War”, some songs are about peoples stupidity, and one beautifull ten minutes song about Scotland War with England.
In this album i think we are more mature and our songs more heavy, Camila is singing lower tones exploring different regions of her incredible voice and leave us more satisfy each day that pass, when this album is ready i believe that you are going to love it,it’s really good the cover making by rené brother, André labete that made one incredible job in our first cd darkness end. So,I’m anxious that everyone listen to our new songs.
Hanna Tsepesh: Yes that’s true the cover of your first album it’s amazing, my congratulations to him . Did you had already the lyrics prepared, or they appear at the same moment you record?
Marcello: I had half of the lyrics ready in São Francisco i had almost all of them only one was missing but it's already written.
Hanna Tsepesh: Briefly…how do you describe your new album, Marcello?if you allow me to say, for what I’ve heard on MySpace the theme Broken wings looks like one more mature sound (exactly like you said before), the sound of the instruments are “stronger”, right?
Marcello: Yes, it’s more mature and stronger, i believe that this album will show us all the strenght of Thy Symphony (ahahaha), it’s a great album I’m in love by him it will be a classical album I’m sure of that.
Hanna Tsepesh: When it will be available your album in Brasil and Europe? For those who want to acquire it.
Marcello:Well that depends on the publishers we are in contact with the european one’s and some leave us the doors open to hear our next work and I believe this album will convince them, and sooner everyone can acquire Thy Symphony cd’s.
Hanna Tsepesh: Do you have plans to perform in Portugal this year or in a near future?
Marcello: Of course yes, it will be like making a dream come true to play in Portugal, we hope to have a publisher soon and if possible to give some concerts in Portugal we will love to play in there.
Hanna Tsepesh: THE GATES OF METAL wish you lots of success and hope to see you soon in Portugal! thank you.
Marcello: Hugs Hanna , and to all portuguese people that appreciate good heavy metal and for those who don’t like, also a hug and to this pretty country that one day i’m shure that we will meet .Happiness to Everyone.
