INDRAMA

Hanna Tsepesh: Hola Jesus and Selene! Thanks so much for accepting this interview and Welcome to THE GATES OF METAL! First of all: how are you and how are the things doing with your concerts?

Jesus:
Hello Hanna! Great and very thankful for this interview and being with you.
The concerts are fantastic, a feeling hard to explain.
We try to do the best and transmit the emotions of our Songs.
Right now we are looking for a new drummer and we hope to play again soon.

Selene:
Fine, Thank you.
I love the concerts, It´s very magical...People…Music…difficult to explain with words.

Hanna Tsepesh: for those who do not know the band, could tell us a little how it all started?

Jesus:
It was basically listening to three albums in the mid and late 90s; Tiamat´s “Wildhoney” and “A Deeper Kind Of Slumber” and Pat Metheny Group´s (Jazz Guitarrist) “Imaginary Day”. As well as listening, in the early 2000 to The Gathering´s “Souvenirs” and to Anathema´s “A Natural Disaster”.
My main influences have always been Sepultura, Machine Head, Kreator and Slayer. But listening to those albums I mentioned, they went straight into my heart for all the feeling and depth they expressed, and gave me, musically speaking, more freedom when it came to creating.
After years of reflexion about myself and music, I decided to start the project in 2008.
And this doesn´t mean I stopped liking Thrash, Machine Head´s “Through The Ashes of Empires” is a masterpiece.

Hanna Tsepesh: What inspired you the most to create the lyrics and what process the band use to create the riffs, melody to comply with the lyrics?

Jesus:
All songs have to tell you a History, an Experience, good or bad…
I Believe that before you write a song, you need to have a reason for writing it.
Both, Sometimes we create the Lyrics first and then the Melody or we create a
melody/Riffs And then the Lyrics to finally add some Arrangements.

Hanna Tsepesh: What are your favorite bands? You have any musician that you admire the most?

Selene:
I like all Music Styles, Specially Heavy Metal, Celtic Music, Arabian Music.
My favourite bands are Blind Guardian, Hednigarna, Alanis Morrisette and specially
Lorenna Mckenit. I Love Original Soundtracks, specially Bram Stoker´s Dracula
Is amazing.

Jesus:
My Favourite Band has always been...And Will Be Sepultura (Until Max Cavalera Left Sepultura).
Currently my favourite bands are Anathema, Machine Head, Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn and Pat Metheny.
And I love the voice of Vincent Cavanagh from Anathema, Robb Flynn From Machine Head and specially the voice of Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn (OST Silent Hill) and Specially Pat Metheny for his compositions and the sound of his guitar….Amazing!!!

Hanna Tsepesh: I would like to know if you had or have any singing lessons or any other preparation? You have a fantastic voice! Congratulations!

Selene:
Thank you very much Hanna.
Curiously I had never been in a band before and I had not received singing lessons.
I must say that I had already been involved in many musical projects as a dancer.
Because I am a Belly Dance Teacher and this can be seen in her performances at InDrama´s concerts.
From a young age has always been singing but only for me. I also got piano lessons and
Gave me some knowledge of singing.
Now receive singing lessons to improve and reach all my potential.

Hanna Tsepesh: When you start to play guitar? It was difficult to learn? What brand guitar you prefer?

Jesus:
I started to play Guitar when I was 16 years old. It´s very difficult to learn because
Not only you have to play well but you also need to express emotions, feelings…
Many brands, I play Gibson (Les Paul Custom)I love its sound, But I Love Also Grestch for example.
Each Guitar Has its charm.

Hanna Tsepesh: What was the highest and lowest point of your career as a musician?

Jesus:
The Highest point is Indrama.
The Lowest point….live in Spain…(laughs), Our style of music (and others) are not well known in Spain.

Selene:
The Highest point is Indrama. I Love it and the lowest point didn´t start before.

Hanna Tsepesh: Let’s talk about the “ Timescapes” album. For me it was a really refreshing album! I really love it and also the melody's! For people who don’t listen yet can you tell to us about this album?

Selene:
Timescapes is like a magical spell translated into Music.
Its Atmospheres, Sounds, Melodies, Downtempo,
Harmonic construction with the ambience make you relax and enjoy.
When you listen Timescapes I believe that Peace is inside you.

Jesus:
Thank you Hanna!!!
Timescapes is a perfect debut-album
Poetically Speaking:
It´s a journey through the emotions, a gift for your feelings, with a heavenly voice (Selene) And Personal Experiences that are transferred to the Music of Timescapes.

Hanna Tsepesh: at recording studio, you guys faced with difficulties? If yes, tell which was and how as the whole process?

Jesus:
No specially, too much time. it´s made with lots of care

Selene:
Following the words of Jesus
The final result also comes from listening to other great works from other bands and producers.
Then we just try to carry it out in our album.
We start by creating beautiful voice melodies to later wrap them up with the rest of the instruments.
This is done very carefully in order to create a good dynamic and a result that ends up being as harmonic and sweet as possible.

Hanna Tsepesh: How has the response been to the album by the fans and media?

Selene:
Timescapes is having a very good reception, people are liking it and is spreading even beyond our expectations. In countries like Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Chile or Mexico is being placed and enjoyed according to what we see in myspace, facebook or lastfm.

Hanna Tsepesh: If one of our readers wants to buy your album, what they can do?

Selene:

Both are so beautiful

Selene:
Unreal because Music and Lyrics take you to another level

Hanna Tsepesh: What is your opinion about the metal in your country (Spain)? It is easy to get some support?

Jesus:
The metal in Spain is acceptable and very difficult. Our style is not only metal….in fact, we mix various styles and we received little support…None Really.

Hanna Tsepesh: What is your big advice for a young musician?

Selene:
Simply Enjoy the Music.
