Hanna Tsepesh: Hola(Hello in spanish) Midgard! Thanks so much for accepting this interview and Welcome to THE GATES OF METAL! For those who do not know Spellcraft could tell us a little how it all started?

Midgard: SPELLCRAFT band was born in 1997 until now without stable singer until 2001 when Midgard accept the proposal of the band until nowadays. First in fallen 1997 the band recorded “Funeral in the night”. In 2002-2003 SPELLCRAFT recorder his first L.P named “Souldevourer” but we preferred recorded a good LP . In 2007 we went to recorder to BCN studios in Barcelona to preparer “” Stirpe Obscura” our first serious L.P and we signed a contract for 2 L .P with grotesque records label (Sevilla - Spain ).
We play raw black metal with melodic riffs similar Swedish black death and we are a stable bands since our beginnings .

Hanna Tsepesh: What inspired you the most to create the lyrics for the band?

Midgard: Darkness, evil , hate, death and war…

Hanna Tsepesh: What are your favorite bands? You have any singer that you admire the most?

Midgard: Well, SPELLCRAFT is the result of a lot of musical tendences about the black and death music. We like Necrophobic, Dissecction, Morbid Angel,Abigor,Throme of Ahaz,(Old) Emperor,ect until trash and heavy metal. Always metal although we are open minds and respect all the music styles.

Hanna Tsepesh: One little curiosity: What fascinates you most in black metal and what is your opinion about black metal in our days?

Midgard: Black metal is a different manner of life in reference to awhat people understand as a normal life. For this reason I think that black metal people is different to others and fascinates me the aura, the ambient essence of our raw but melodic music . Normal people don´t understand our music and details of it.
I think that in the nowadays Black metal as the other things has evolutionated. I don´t know if it´s better or worst but all in the life is in a continua evolution. I liked the black metal 90´s but now there are good bands that they are borning with a good forms.

Hanna Tsepesh: Spellcraft have a new album called “Stirpe Obscura”. I want to say my congratulations for your work in this album and say to you that I really liked a lot this album, I am really surprised! My favorite music’s are: “beyond the lost forest” and “stirpe obscura”. For people who don’t listen yet can you talk about “Stirpe Obscura” and what you want to conquer?

Midgard: You can imagine that we like “Stirpe Obscura” a lot ; sorry but “Stirpe obscura” was recorded during six weeks in BCN Rooms Studies and mastered by Tailor Maid in Sweden (Marduk, Dark funeral…). We dedicated a lot of time and we care all kind of details. We want to congratulate to Pera and Gorka Prieto , the recorder studios thecnics , for all the support and good work. We are very satisfy with “Stirpe Obscura” and our label too due to we have sold more than 1500 original copies .
Our meanly aim with “Stirpe Obscura” is do a good black metal and we want tha people can enjoy with it . We want to superate this L.P with our next L.P

Hanna Tsepesh: Everything went well at recording studio? It was an easy process?

Midgard: Oh! It was a good experience during six months between 2007 and 2008 due to first we recorded 4 songs (promo ) and when we had signed a contract for 2 LP with Grotesque music we finished “Stirpe Obscura”. For us it was an exciting process, first the clacket, the drum, rythm guitar, lead guitar, bass , voices, acoustic and Spanish guitars and a good atmosphere in the band , the same since 1997 when we beginning.


Hanna Tsepesh: How has the response been to the album by the media and fans?

Midgard: That´s incredible. Our label and managers are very satisfy and people in Europe and south America have response with good critics. For us the best words of our fans are when they told us that “it´s an original music, a mixture of raw black metal with Swedish and melodic black death” although we like the critics for learning too.

Hanna Tsepesh: If one of our readers wants to buy your album safely, what they can do?

Hanna Tsepesh: what is your favorite music in this album and why?

Midgard: The Song named like the album “Stirpe Obscura”. You can see 10 minutes of a different sensations (raw black metal and melodic riffs, different voices and even acoustics and spanish guitars). This track have liked a lot in our country and for us it´s the best song that we never have composed because it´s very complete in all the aspects of it.

Hanna Tsepesh: The band is thinking about a European tour? You guys have plains to include Portugal in your tour or something?

Midgard: Yes of course. Now we have a Spanish tour with Spanish bands for 4 days ( Madrid , Salamca,Vigo y Oviedo ) and perhaps we have to go to play to france . For us Portugal play in Portugal it´s very important due to it´s a brother country!






Hanna Tsepesh: In your country ( Spain ) you have some kind of support in there? How are the things about black metal in Spain ?

Midgard: Well now we are seeing that it´s borning a new generation of black metal maniacs. It´s a good new for all the Spanish bands and there are good and brother bands. For example I can tell you that we played in Madrid one month ago and people from differents areas of the coast of spain (2 or 3 hours in a trip) came to see us and they enjoy in the concert a lot. For us it´s the best.

Hanna Tsepesh: Do you want to send any message for the people who going to read this interview?

Midgard: We invite all the people to support the world black metal bands and to visit our myspace. We are playing during 12 years and we believe in the true and wild black metal .
