Hanna Tsepesh: Hello Roberto! Thanks so much for accepting this interview! For those who do not know Mystic Of Prophecy could tell us a little how it all started and introduce yourself and the other band members?
Roberto: Hello there! The band was found in 2000 by me and ex-bass player of the band Martin Albrecht.The simple reason for this was because I wanted to create a band that would deliver pure and true metal! Until now Mystic Prophecy has released 6 full length albums (which 2 of them were released via Nuclear Blast and 3 via Massacre Recs) and has participated in Major festivals like Wacken Open Air, MetalCamp, Earthshaker,Bang Your Head etc.Considering the line-up..I'm the lead singer of the band,on the guitar duties we have Markus Pohl and Constantine,on the bass Connie Andreska and behind the drum-kit Stefan Dittrich.
Hanna Tsepesh: What inspired you the most to create the lyrics? The band writes the lyrics first or first the band creates the riffs and the melody to comply with the lyrics?
Roberto: I write generally about subjects that concern us every single day like war,starvation, unjustice,the environment and so on..Generally I don't like to write about dragons and unrealistic things..i believe that we definitely have more serious issues to consider and we should be speaking totally clearly about this facts.It's outrage for all of them and not right at all in a moral way for instance that politics- to have their fridges packed with food and to throw it away whenever when the same time babies in other countries are dying because of hunger!
On the fireangel subject,everyone and each of us lives as an angel of fire..He comes to life,destroys whatever is around him and then he dies and becomes dust..Many people speak about the apocalypse..I believe that the apocalypse started the very first day man appeared on the planet..We are born to destroy the environment we live in and that's why i think about that every single one of us is a small apocalyptic fireangel.
When it comes to the songwriting procedure sometimes it differs to the approach.Actually we have used both of the ways that you already mentioned!
Hanna Tsepesh: What are your favorite bands? You have any singer that you admire the most?
Roberto: My favourite bands are BLACK SABBATH (only with DIO),BAD COMPANY, MERCYFUL FATE, EXODUS and others..Concerning the vocalists that I admire are GLENN HUGHES,MIKE HOWE / BAD COMPANY,RONNIE JAMES DIO,RAY GILLAN /BADLANDS.These vocalists are very special to me because they are unique and have amazing feeling in their style of
singing..! It's important I believe for a vocalist,to listen to him and giving you the goosebump!Hanna Tsepesh: I would like to know if you had or have any singing lessons or any other preparation? In this album we can listen that you have a great powerful voice and very versatile singer, I think you make an excellent work in “Fireangel” album.
Roberto: First of all thank you for your kind words! Actually,I never had singing lessons and I don't believe that I will have now that I am 43 years old...hahahaha!!! I think that the vocal lines on the "FIREANGEL" album are the best that I have ever recorded so far!I'm totally happy with the result and my performance!
Hanna Tsepesh: Talking about your new album “Fireangel” is out now! For people who don’t listen yet can you talk about “Fireangel”? What your fans can expect from this album and what is the big different for you between this album and the previous one?
Roberto: First of all both the fans and the metalheads that haven't heard of us yet can expect a true modern metal album with huge guitar walls,catchy hook lines and really high quality songs! I would say that the "FIREANGEL" has the biggest variety from all our previous releases and it's also an album that every metalhead can enjoy from the first up to the last song.It contains a lot of mid-tempo and up-tempo tracks and also the fastest Mystic Prophecy song ever..We kill! You die! I wouldn't say in any way that the "FIREANGEL" is our best album so far because I believe that every record from M.P. has something unique and it's own beauty and I can't really pick an album out..This can only be decided by the fans who buy the album and can compare it with the previous ones..!
Hanna Tsepesh: Everything went well at recording studio? The band feels proud with the final result or you think that miss something? Did you think this album is one of the best Mystic Of Prophecy albums?
Roberto: Everything went excellent down in the studio at the recording days and actually the recording procedure was the fastest ever! The guys needed a very few days to record their parts because they were very well prepared and very eager during the sessions!! I don't really miss anything at the moment..I'm really happy with the album and I really enjoy listening to it..I would say that it could be one of the best albums of M.P. but for me all are really special and unique!
Hanna Tsepesh: How has the response been to the album by the media and fans? I saw some cool reviews at Mystic of Prophecy MySpace…
Roberto: The response that we have received so far from the media and the fans is excellent! The fans love it and and apart from that the album in the first week of its release entered the German Charts at place 77#! In addition, the album in the month of May took the highest places at the soundcheck of big magazines like Rock Hard, Metal Hammer etc. Things couldn't be better than this really!
Hanna Tsepesh: That is really great! what is your favorite music in this album and why? Also, one of your big fan ask me to ask you this: What is your favorite Mystic Of Prophecy album and why (Without this new one)?
Roberto: My favorite songs on the album are Demon's Crown/Father Save Me/To The Devil I Pray/Revolution I Evil/We Kill! You Die! I think I have already answered to the second question above..Every Mystic Prophecy album for me is unique and special..In that point of view I can't say which is the best so far…
Hanna Tsepesh: The band is thinking about a European tour? You guys have plains to include Portugal in your tour or something?
Roberto: The band is planning to tour in October this year to promote the new album as much as possible and to play for all the crazy fans of the band across Europe!! We would really love to get to Portugal if it's possible and if the touring schedule includes it as well! So, hopefully we will be there!!
Hanna Tsepesh: Do you want to send any message for your fans around the world?
Roberto: Hello brothers! Thank you for all of your support all these years and your faith and trust that you show to Mystic's Music!! Without you we would never be in that level that we are now!
